The Bookish Box – August 2015

image

I fell in love with the Bookish Box this month.  I absolutely loved everything about this subscription box before, but this month just exceeded my expectations.

Bookish in Alderaan Places was the theme of this month’s box and I was not disappointed.

Now, when the theme came out, I won’t lie – I googled Alderaan.  I have shamefully never been exposed to Star Wars so when I found what Alderaan was, I was surprised.

Alderaan, located in the Core Worlds, was the second planet in the Alderaan system, and the home of many famous heroes, including Leia Organa Solo, Bail Organa, and Ulic Qel-Droma. Renowned galaxy-wide for their planet’s unspoiled beauty, refined culture, and commitment to peace, Alderaanians worked with and around the land to preserve as much of the natural surroundings as they could.”

So what this box meant to me was that it would be filled with beautiful items that featured some Sci-Fi twists.  And that would have been a correct assumption.

The first item I discovered was the hair wrap.  And I won’t lie, I’m hopeless when it comes to styling my hair, but I am obsessed with this Dr. Who Headwrap by Night and Day Baby.  I will definitely be practicing with this one.

Next up – whoo hoo!  Little Princess Leia magnetic bookmark by Hello Happy Co. on Etsy.  It was random whether you’d receive a Star Wars theme or Dr. Who – but Princess Leia is perfect for me – a character I actually know!

Also included was a DELICIOUS smelling candle by The Fragrance Library, featuring the smell of The Maze.  The description on the lid is just too cute and I have to share it with you guys:

“The Maze is a WICKED combination of mountain air, watermelon, Grievers, driftwood and the Runners.”

Yep.  I love it.

Rich Love Shoppe contributed a gorgeous necklace that features the quote “I’ll Cross the Sky for You.”  It’s so pretty, I have worn it constantly.

The featured author this month was M. Leighton, for the release of her new book, Strong Enough.  The beautiful bookmark included made me intrigued enough to definitely want to snag a copy!

Other goodies were coupons for future products purchased from some of the contributing shops, and a one month subscription to Oyster, an online, unlimited reading service with over 1 million bestsellers, award-winners and more.  Really excited to try it out!

And FINALLY – the shirt!  Made by the beautiful Appraising Pages and specially designed for The Bookish Box , this months’ box featured a quote from A Wrinkle in Time which reads:

“A book, too, can be a star. Explosive material, capable of stirring up fresh life endlessly.”

I ordered the custom addition to the Bookish Box (which was a new feature this month), and paid for the upgrade to receive a racer-back version of the shirt rather than a crew neck.  And I absolutely love it.  I don’t wear crew necks much other than to bed, so it’s great to have other options for future boxes that I’ll actually be happy to wear on a daily basis!

My only complaint with the shirt was the font the quote was written in.  It was a very unique font choice and unfortunately was hard to read for me.  I had to google the quote before figuring out what it actually said, but once I had it – I fell in love.  It’s just a shame I can’t just walk around and have it understood by fellow readers.

Overall, this box was absolutely fantastic and included so many fantastic goodies!

If you’re interested in receiving the next Bookish Box, subscriptions open tonight (17 August, 2015) for September subscriptions.  Head on over to their website and keep your eyes peeled for the goodies to be released – this is absolutely a box you don’t want to miss!
