Once Upon a BookCase – January 2017

I don’t think I could ever complain about a Harry Potter themed anything, but I was really excited for the Once Upon a Bookcase January Potions Class theme!

This month’s Once Upon a Bookcase was a little different from past months.  Instead of including a few little gifts, the set of gifts this month created one large gift!

When I found out that the theme was going to be Harry Potter, I knew I was going to have high expectations.

The first gift, one would think would be a bit bizarre, as it’s a spoon!  However, this spoon has the deathly hallows symbol engraved on the handle and the words “Polyjuice Potion” one the scoop.  HOW CUTE IS THAT?  And that’s not even the best part of the box (it’s just my official potions, never-to-be-used spoon), but it’s so well correlated with the rest of the box!

The art print this month paid homage to our favorite but not-so-favorite at the same time Potions Master, Severus Snape, reading
“There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class.”
Ahh, how much we loved him those first few books.

The next gift was more like a recipe, which some may think to be confusing, until you keep going!  “Moaning Myrtle’s Bath Water” is a concoction that you can make with your new wizarding spoon and cauldron (provided from your own home and/or Diagon Alley) with the ingredients provided!

Dragon Eggs, Mermaid Tears and Gillywater were all components in this brew, but it makes for a wonderful bubble bath!

This was an absolutely adorable concept and a perfect addition to the phone case this month, which was Advanced Potions Making by Lieatius Borage, used by Hogwarts students in their 6th and 7th years.  As always, the quality of the case is phenomenal and the cover is absolutely adorable – never a complaint about a Harry Potter phone case!

Overall, I loved this box and thought the idea of the included items was ingenious to feature as a potion itself.  I’m really giving kudos to Michelle for coming up with this creative idea!

If you missed out on the box, you can always get your own Advanced Potion Making phone case on it’s own from Michelle’s Etsy, Chick Lit Designs.  But for the same price, you can get a gorgeous monthly phone case and goodies with her subscription, Once Upon a Bookcase!  What are you waiting for, grab one now!
