Wizarding World Lootcrate – January 2017

Another month, another disappointment from Lootcrate’s Wizard World crate.  But was there anything good in it at all?

As always with the J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World Lootcrate, I got my hopes WAY too high.  If anything, this box was more disappointing than last month.  Which is a feat in itself.

That said, this month’s “A Matter of Time” box didn’t make ANY sense, as none of the items really had anything to do with the time.  But it’s fine.

The first item was a Snape ‘Always’ tee.  Yea, it’s cute.  Yes, it’s Snape and we all love to hate him while loving him so yes, it’s a nice tee.  Does it really go with the theme?  No.  No it does not.

The next item, I swear I didn’t even know what it was.  It was this ugly pin….and then on the spoiler sheet, it said it was a Prophecy pin.  Granted it’s supposed to be an exclusive to the box, but what.  What is this.  I was actually mildly insulted by this pin.

To make matters worse, there’s a time turner necklace which ALSO claims to be exclusive to the box.  If you’re a big Harry Potter fan like me, you know Time Turners are no exclusive anywhere.  They’re literally EVERYWHERE.  So I was pretty annoyed when that this tiny, cheap time turner on a fabric cord was included and called exclusive.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for jewelry.  This deathly hallows pocket watch necklace was really quite lovely and I loved the design on both the inside and outside.  However, WHAT DID THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE THEME.  I don’t know.  It’s fine.

The only item I could see working with the theme was the Platform 9 3/4 socks, which are really quite comfy and cute, simply because it goes back to Harry’s first time on the train, meeting his friends.  Maybe all the other items were trying to reference memorable moments,  but they didn’t do a very good job.

And finally.  The cherry on top of this flawless box.  A funko!  It’s at least exclusive, you’re wondering?  NOPE.  It’s a plain old regular HP funko that any Harry Potter fan already has.  And there are only four options – Yule Ball Hermione or Ron, Luna or Sirius.  Why oh why, did you think this was a good choice, Lootcrate?

I was incredibly disappointed and actually fairly angry after opening this box.  THIS was what I just spent $35 on?  A cheap necklace, a funko I already had, an ugly pin, a decent pair of socks & necklace, and a tee I think is okay, but wouldn’t have bought if I saw it in a store?  $35 for socks and a necklace is basically what this box amounted it me.  Not a happy witch over here.

I’m giving them one more month.  But this is ridiculous.  They better do something pretty amazing in March if they’re going to keep me around any longer!  The issue is they built so much hype around this being an official box, approved by J.K. Rowling but none of it means anything to me!  Really upset that they’d do that to the Harry Potter fandom.

If you’d like to check out their website or for some reason buy a box after this train wreck of a review, head over to their site, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
