Wondergirl Box – March 2017

The second month of Wonder Girl Box arrived and I was hoping for a lot after last month’s disappointing start!

The first thing I want to mention is that my criticism last month was mainly that I didn’t feel like I got any items for the cost of the box.  That said, this month they definitely improved on quantity!

The book came first this month!  This is a new release entitled Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde.  I hadn’t heard of this book before but the cover definitely got my attention!  It honestly looks like it should belong in a feminine box.  Unfortunately, it was paperback which I felt took some of the value off of the book itself, but I am excited to get into it as it does have some pretty stellar reviews!

The first item I noticed was “Big Balm”, a massive tube of lip balm.  Unfortunately I’m not a fan of flavored chap stick or lip balm or anything that goes on my mouth – it makes me feel like I’m four, so this was a wasted item.

Next up, was a sampler packet from Book Lovers Coffee in medium roast.  Now, though I don’t drink coffee, I completely understand that this was an excellent item to include in the box!  Coffee is a staple in many peoples’ lives and I think this was a really smart move for them to include.

Paperly&Co is one of my favorite magnetic bookmark companies so I was really excited to see them work with Wonder Girl box, featuring both their Belle and their Hermione designs.  Both, such smart and strong female leads were perfect additions to this month’s box!

The last true item was a Tony’s ChocoLonely bar.  This was a major disappointment for me.  On the one hand, it’s a gourmet chocolate bar.  But at the same time, it’s another edible.  Edible items are not long-lasting, meaningful items and I honestly didn’t know what this had to do with the theme.  Finally, my chocolate bar was one that included Almonds.  Though I’m not allergic, if someone who received a box was, this is another item that would have been completely useless to them.

The remaining items were simply a Wonder Girl button and an array of papers explaining the mission of Wonder Girl, where to find them, a bookmark for the included coffee company, and an announcement for the April theme.

Once again, this box was a bust and I really had high expectations for this company and their phenomenal mission.  I’m hoping that they’ll do great things in the future but one can only hope.  Unfortunately, I will be cancelling my subscription with Wonder Girl Box but I do wish them all the best.

Unfortunately since receiving this box, Wonder Girl Box  has closed its doors.  They will be opening up a new project soon though, so to stay updated be sure to head to their website!
