The May Uppercase Box is finally here and oh my goodness this is a title that has captured me from the cover alone!
This month’s Uppercase Box included a signed copy of Windfall by Jennifer E. Smith. The cover of this book is absolutely stunning and the description has grabbed me!
Alice doesn’t believe in luck–at least, not the good kind. But she does believe in love, and for some time now, she’s been pining for her best friend, Teddy. On his eighteenth birthday–just when it seems they might be on the brink of something–she buys him a lottery ticket on a lark. To their astonishment, he wins $140 million, and in an instant, everything changes. At first, it seems like a dream come true, especially since the two of them are no strangers to misfortune. As a kid, Alice won the worst kind of lottery possible when her parents died just over a year apart from each other. And Teddy’s father abandoned his family not long after that, leaving them to grapple with his gambling debts. Through it all, Teddy and Alice have leaned on each other. But now, as they negotiate the ripple effects of Teddy’s newfound wealth, a gulf opens between them. And soon, the money starts to feel like more of a curse than a windfall. As they try to find their way back to each other, Alice learns more about herself than she ever could have imagined . . . and about the unexpected ways in which luck and love sometimes intersect.
I’m so excited to dive into this title and cannot wait to enjoy this over the summer – it sounds like a perfect summer beach read!
Also included with Windfall was a scratch-ticket that was offered to subscribers – scratching off a winning combo could result in receiving a signed first edition of the book! I didn’t win unfortunately but it was definitely a fun and unique bonus!
Yellow Owl Workshop included an adorable pair of earrings, featuring two unique pieces for each ear (mismatching earrings are in!) with a book stack and and a pair of eyeglasses. I’m in love with these and am definitely going to wear these on a regular basis!
Finally, two exclusive iron-on patches were included this month, designed by Erik Buikema, featuring a reading cat (adorable) and a “Get Lit” book cover. I absolutely love both of these and I’ll need to find the perfect place to permanently adhere them to!
This was an adorable box and I’m so excited about this book title! Stay tuned for a review!
