Daily Writing – July 19th, 2016

Today’s prompt is thanks to Figment.com which recommended I use the following quote as inspiration/include it in a piece.

“I’m just the backup friend.”

I ended up going with a very short, first person perspective of an inanimate object.  Any guesses as to what it is?  I’ll put the answer way down at the bottom so you’ll have to scroll.  😉

Humans of Bookstores

I am so pleased to announce a new section to my site, entitled Humans of Bookstores.  This fun, new category will feature strangers and their stories from the bookstores I visit.

I decided that seeing as I take photos of books while I’m in bookstores…why not take photos of the people reading them as well?  They are obviously there for a reason and deserve to have their story told, just as much as the stories they’re purchasing.

I’m so grateful to every single one of the people that allow me to not only interview them, but to take a few minutes out of their day to talk to me about the books they love.  Reading is one of those things that bring people together and I’m so lucky to be apart of such an amazing community.

Not only will I be featuring their stories/quotes on this site, but I’ll also be featuring them on Facebook, InstagramTumblr, & Twitter as well.  Be sure to give us a follow there for the easiest way to be notified of new interviews!

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and I am nearing 4 years past my original goal of 18 and published.  I am excited, however, for the time I had away from the writing field for me to really realize how much the whole community meant to me.

Pulse It! Program – The Breakdown

Well, I know I explain what Pulse It! originally was at the beginning of Free Book Friday every week, but I realized you guys actually never got a full fledged breakdown of how I got into the program, or what books I received, so I figured now was as imagegood a time as any to really explain what Pulse It! was, what the perks and the downsides were and all that good stuff!

So to start off, every month I’d get a pretty cool package in the mail.  It was your typical mailer envelope, nothing special, except I was 13.  So um, hello, basically everything was pretty cool back then.
